About Me

I have always enjoyed helping people move along their life journey, which is why being a therapist is so fulfilling for me. I love helping people heal and grow through the process of developing self-awareness and achieving new breakthroughs—whatever those may look like for them. Everyone’s situation and journey are unique, and seeing individual clients enjoy personal success inspires me to continue to do what I do.

My Background

I’ve always been interested in how the family functions as a whole, which is why I specialize in working with couples and families. I’ve worked with at-risk youth and children in a variety of populations, which showed me that the family is often a major cause of emotional pain, stress or trauma. In other words, your relationships can deeply impact your journey. By exploring interpersonal dynamics and ways of relating, I can help you and your loved ones move forward from personal troubles, fears and insecurities and learn how to function more positively, both as individuals and within the home.

In my own family, I learned some valuable lessons. When it came to different walks of life—culture, religion, spirituality, personal history, hardships—my family was very open and accepting to everyone. Today, I continue to welcome everyone into my life without judgment. I’ve always been my friends’ “go-to” person when they have an issue or just need someone to listen. I work hard to bring this same welcoming acceptance and compassionate listening into my practice, so that clients feel safe and comfortable enough to open up and connect with me.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in a variety of jobs, including corporate and sales positions. Additionally, I have my own experience with relationships (like my marriage) and children, and I’ve worked with so many different types of people that I’ve learned how to adapt in situations easily and efficiently. Today, I have a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist.

Outside of my work, the most important things in my life are my family, my friends and my faith. In my free time, I enjoy the many outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer such as biking and staying active, and of course enjoying our beautiful state. I also volunteer for several non-profit agencies and am on the board of directors for one. In everything I do, I continue to learn and grow, developing my craft as a couples and family therapist—whether this means fine-tuning current skills or gaining new ones.

My Approach

I understand how difficult and scary counseling can be, which I why I approach therapy from a compassionate and non-judgmental standpoint. I focus sessions on truly building a relationship with you so that I can better understand where you’ve been and how to help you move forward.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma or relationship trouble, I aim to provide a safe and inviting environment where you can discuss your concerns openly. And, I work hard to offer you a therapeutic space where you can truly feel that you aren’t in this alone.

I believe that we don’t need to have something “wrong” with us or to be “broken” to seek therapy. Many people come to therapy because they are in a tough situation or because they need someone to listen to their story and help them understand what they are going through. As a skilled professional who offers an empathetic ear and extensive training, I am here to walk alongside you on your journey, wherever that may lead.

In sessions, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you understand the relationship between your thoughts and your actions. The therapy process can help you change that relationship and focus on creating more positive thoughts and actions.

Additionally, I use therapy models based around emotions and mindfulness. I also use a systematic approach—I focus on understanding the family as a system to see how it may affect you in your personal lives, and in your home environment. By doing this, you can understand your place within the family and the part you play. Then, together, we can find solutions that will help you create a more positive and healthy environment so you can move forward in life.

When you come into therapy, my primary goal is to offer a safe place where you can find relief and peace, be heard and validated and stop feeling so stuck and alone. With help, you can develop and strengthen the tools you need to go through life in a healthy, balanced and beneficial way.
